Band Biography

Formed in 2006, Skeleton Crew UK is a 5 piece rock band hailing from Nottinghamshire. I’m not going to litter this biography with unnecessary superlatives or adjectives in an attempt to describe the music in words, since a quick visit to the music page will give a more than adequate audio representation through the miracle of modern technology of what the band sound like. So, dispensing with phrases such as “chainsaw guitars”, “pyrotechnic drumming” “stratospheric vocals” or “somnambulistic yet nonchalant bass lines” as seen on so many identikit band press pages, by way of general description Skeleton Crew UK could be said to nestle in that cosy alcove between classic rock and heavy metal with a side portion of modern alternative rock for good measure, heavy on melody, harmony and musicianship, slightly less so on attitude and cosmetics.

The lineup of Graham Byron (guitars), Rob Holsman (guitars and keyboards) Drew Traylor (drums) and Steve Evans (bass) was solidified on late 2008 with the addition of vocalist Lyndon Parry. In June 2009 the band released our first full length CD Bring It On. The original run of 300 copies sold out in about 6 months and we gigged extensively to support it. The first single, a tongue-in-cheek “radio edit” version of How Come I’m Never Around received decent local radio airplay. Thanks to MySpace we gained fans around the world and have sold CDs as far afield as  Germany, the USA and Japan. Skeleton Crew UK have earned a strong following on the biker circuit playing various rallies as well as our own gigs at Nottingham Rock City, Mansfield Music Festival and Wildside, plus support slots with the likes of New Generation Superstars, Laika Dog and Eureka Machines. Skeleton Crew UK were also ranked number 2 in the Grantham Battle of the Bands.

2010 sees Skeleton Crew back in recording mode again for a new album, as we’re currently whittling down the 20 or so new songs from the past year for inclusion. As well as festivals this year, we have also been feature Artist Of The Week on Mansfield 103 FM, thanks to our Facebook fans (400+ fans in 4 months). Our hope for the next year is to continue to gig, to grow our fanbase and hopefully get a shot at some more festivals both here and abroad.

So that about sums it up, at least as much as can be done in words. Skeleton Crew UK aren’t a fashion band – we look like the pictures, our shows don’t revolve around flashpots or incinerating puppies and we don’t all call ourselves by obscure pseudonyms to make us sound like we stumbled out of 1989’s LA scene. Its just good, honest, loud heavy rock and good honest loud people seem to really like it.
